Buying for Beauty

BLACKSMITH SCROLL

  • Hammered texture surface.
  • Scroll has appealing mass with changes in thickness.
  • Gradual decrease of the space enclosed by the scroll.
  • One of a kind creation, note how the graceful curve follows the piece right to the tip.

MACHINE SCROLL

  • Smooth, non-textured surface.
  • One continuous thickness, frequently made with round rod or flat bar on edge.
  • Similar or uneven space enclosed by the scroll.
  • Mass production identical look, take note of the ugly straight tip of the scroll in the center.
I cannot compete with Wal-Mart.
Mass production methods will always translate to lower material costs and lower prices for the consumer.
That is not what I offer.
I do not simply build "objects" I build tangible representations of human relationships; articles crafted by hand just for you, and pass them from my hand to yours just as it was done in the days when community was the central part of our lives. The farmer, the butcher, the blacksmith, the tailor, the shoemaker, these were all people whom we knew on a personal basis and depended upon for our daily survival. These relationships made every function of our lives a healthy social activity, and that is what my products stand for: community, belonging, and putting people first.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.
